Genesis 1-2: SCIENCE & CREATION, do they work together?
When someone in the 21st century opens the Bible to Genesis chapter 1 and reads the universe was created in just six days, it is easy to simply write it all off as bologna and slam it shut. I almost did that. This is due to a lack of understanding of how to read the creation story.
There is also a huge divide between seculars and Christian surrounding evolution and … Read the rest
How I read and study the Bible
Reading the Bible, let alone studying this massive text, is extremely intimidating. It took me about a year just to read it once. I was able to remember some of it but I quickly found out my understanding was extremely lacking. If it took me a year to read it…how much longer to STUDY it?!
How I read the Bible
The first challenge is reading the Bible. The Bible is a massive compilation … Read the rest
The History of Christmas and how the Traditions came to be
Christmas is filled with all sorts of fun festivities, as well as…controversy!
What is Christmas, why do we celebrate it on December 25th, why do the celebrations look like they do, and how did Saint Nicholas go from punching Arius and busting serial killers to becoming Santa Claus in a soda ad?
Why do we celebrate on December 25th?
Many people claim that Christmas was … Read the rest
What happened to Advent?
When is Advent
This won’t make any sense to non-Catholics, and quite a number of Catholics. Unlike what the secular world teaches, Christmas is preceded by the season of Advent. Rather than a season of feasting and shopping, Advent it a season of fasting and preparation. How can I say that when all around us we see feasting and shopping while so few are fasting and preparing? Well, that comes down to the history of Advent … Read the rest
Is Halloween PAGAN?!
Halloween started as All Hallow’s Eve, a vigil preceding All Saint’s Day. All Saint’s day is a celebration of all the Saints in heaven. We have many canonized Saints (people the Church declares are in heaven who can offer intercessory prayers) who’s feast days we celebrate. However, everyone in heaven is a saint, even if they are not canonized by the Church. All Saint’s Day is a celebration for all the saints in heaven, canonized or not … Read the rest
Leaving atheism for God
I have posted a few videos detailing my conversion into Christianity, but I did not dive deep into the moment I left atheism, because I assumed atheists would not be interested. Through a happy accident, I found that I was incorrect.
When I was an atheist, I believed that God did not exist and death results in our consciousness ceasing entirely, and that Churches and religion were taking advantage of vulnerable people to sell them a … Read the rest
Reconciling the history of the Catholic Church
It is no secret that the Catholic Church has a very long history, which has many blemishes throughout. We have the crusades, the inquisition era, the sex abuse scandal, and many more. How does one choose to become a member of the Church with such a dark past?
We all have our way of reconciling this. I believe in the Catholic Church, not because of the people, but because of the Truth within … Read the rest
I did not want to be Catholic
I didn’t want to be Catholic. After converting from atheism into Christianity, I wanted to be ABC, anything but Catholic. I didn’t have a whole lot of reasoning. I knew I did not want to be Protestant or “non-denominational,” instead seeking something more traditional and reverent. I grew up around many Protestants and I was not a fan of them. The impression I had was that they go to Church on Sundays to … Read the rest
Interview with an Exorcist: do demons point us to God?
In a world fascinated with the dark side of the spiritual realm, people are more open to listening to demons than God and Jesus Christ. I was blessed to meet with our local Idaho exorcist, Father Brady. Through his years of work as an exorcist in the Catholic Church, he told me that if he were to write a book, it would be titled “Evangelized by Demons.” While Father was … Read the rest
My path to Christianity, Spiritually
On the surface, religion generally seems very superficial. People outside of religion tend to view it universally as culturally inspired explanations of the Creator and our world. I have learned, that is entirely untrue. There is a deep spiritual aspect in all religions, something that I have been able to understand through the full Revelation of God found through Jesus Christ. I have been blessed to personally experience the spiritual side of Christianity. I have … Read the rest
